Why Littlefinger says ‘an historic day‘ not ‘a historic day‘?

'Well well, this is an historic day.' says Littlefinger.

Why he uses 'an' before 'historic day'?

The answer is that he drops the 'h' sound and pronounces 'historic' as '/ɪˈstɔːrɪk/'. Listen to what he says again and carefully, you'll know.

This now sounds old-fashioned, but some speakers still do so.
