DongGuan Custom Manufacturing
DongGuan city of China, where is famed and legendary as world factory, full of reputation with complete process and industrial chain.
Working in DongGuan since 2004, 15 years passed, used to working on metal stamping die, injection mould, AI & Zinc mould, various of machining, includes CNC machining, Lathe machining etc.
I could see I was involved in low level manufacture of DongGuan and watching Dongguan grows to be world factory. A lot of normal workers grow to be engineer, designer, technology representitive, good managers, until owner of their own companies.
Many of my friends have their own business, either big company or small workshop or design studio. Most of their business is from custom manufacturing. Such as:
Metal stamping die, that is working for automotive parts and appliance
Injection mold, that is working for elctronic industry and automotive, appliance
I was very familiar with these two industries, because I worked on those for 15 years. Usually, what they need is part print and 3D model, then they can produce the parts. Very few people think about developing their own products, what customers need, what they are making.
I did have a friend who was tried to developing their own parts, the company last the policy for 2 years only and had to give it up finally. The research cost and labor cost was too high and last long time to get products accepted by market. And Sales is always a problem for DongGuan small companies like him. B2B companies charge a lot, B2C companies charge even much more, and they keep charging you if you want to get good sales.
What bad condition is right now for small manufacturing!
Covid-19 makes all those worse, I visited many of them, their goal for this year is “Alived 2020”, expect the virus disappeared sometime soon.
I am lucky doing automotive aftermarket part manufacture, being a replacement auto parts company, my business is a little growing this year in US market. My friends in US told me American people stop buying new cars, but they have to fix their old cars.
