您没有分配XMLHttpRequest() 的返回对象。

试试这个：

    var httpReq =  XMLHttpRequest();        
    ....
    if (httpReq)  //potentially this is 'false'!
    {
       httpReq.open("POST", "SayHello.ashx");  
       ....
    }
